After months of working with the town of Simsbury, a group of dedicated dog lovers has won approval for a dog park! Centrally located off Iron Horse Boulevard, in the Meadows, our new off-leash recreation area has been named Paw Meadow. The site offers plenty of room for our dogs to run and play, easy access and lots of free parking!
If you and your best friend have frequented dog parks, then you know they’re a great place to exercise your dog safely off-leash and for you to meet fellow dog lovers. What’s more, dog parks attract dog owners from surrounding communities, bringing new customers to nearby shops and restaurants.
A Public-Private Endeavor
Paw Meadow is a joint effort between the Simsbury Culture, Parks and Recreation Dept. and a committee of local residents. The Town is providing and clearing the land. All other expenses — construction, materials, maintenance, amenities, etc. — will be paid for through various fund raising efforts. The Paw Meadow Dog Park Committee is developing a plan along with preliminary rules and safety measures.
